Latyan Dam

The concrete buttress structure rises 107 meters high and extends 450 meters across the Jajrood River, creating a substantial water reservoir of 95 million cubic meters.

The construction of Latyan Dam commenced in 1963, with its initial opening in 1967, followed by the installation of two generators in 1969 and 1987.

The dam incorporates elements of mid-twentieth century Iranian engineering within its structural design, representing the period's industrial progress.

Located 25 kilometers northeast of Tehran, the dam supplies water to the metropolitan region while generating 45 megawatts of hydroelectric power through two units.

The dam sits at an elevation of 1612 meters among geological formations dating from the Palaeozoic era, featuring dolomitic rocks, sandstone, and limestone compositions.
