Lidwell Chapel, Medieval chapel ruins in Dawlish, England
The remaining west wall and visible foundations of Lidwell Chapel stand within a small wood at Little Haldon, near an ancient holy well.
Records from the 14th century mention Robert de Middlecote, a monk who committed crimes at the chapel before his execution in Exeter in 1329.
The chapel earned Grade II listed status in 1951, marking its importance in England's architectural and religious heritage preservation system.
Visitors reach the chapel ruins through a public footpath leading downhill from Little Haldon, passing through Chapel Field near Lidwell Farm.
A photographer in the 1970s captured an unexplained image showing the chapel in its complete 14th-century form rather than its current ruined state.
