Oslo Court, Grade II listed residential building in St John's Wood, London, England
Oslo Court is a Grade II listed residential building on Prince Albert Road in the City of Westminster, London. It was designed in the International Modern style and has a restaurant at street level.
The building was designed in 1937 by the architect Robert Atkinson, at a time when modernist ideas were beginning to take hold in British residential architecture. Its Grade II listing came later, recognising the value of Atkinson's approach.
The ground-floor restaurant has long been a gathering place for the local Jewish community in St. John's Wood, and many regulars have been coming for years. The menu and the feel of the room reflect that connection in a way visitors can notice straight away.
The restaurant entrance opens directly onto Prince Albert Road, making it easy to find without needing to enter the residential part of the building. The St. John's Wood area is pleasant to walk around before or after a visit.
One waiter at the restaurant has been working there since the mid-1970s, and regular guests often mention him as one of the reasons they keep returning. That kind of personal continuity is rare in a city where restaurants change as often as London's.
