5, The Grove, Grade II listed house in Highgate, England

5, The Grove is a three-story house built with red brick, featuring wooden railings at the front and a lantern above the entrance door. The building stands in Highgate, a residential area in the London Borough of Camden in North London.

The house was originally built in 1688 and underwent major reconstruction in 1933 under architect C. H. James. This renovation preserved its traditional exterior while updating the interior of the property.

Early 18th-century wallpapers were discovered beneath the wooden paneling inside the house and are now preserved at the Victoria and Albert Museum. This find reveals how historical layers can remain hidden beneath a building's modern surfaces.

The building is privately occupied and not open for interior visits, but its red brick exterior and front details are visible from the street. The location offers good access to other parts of Highgate and is easily reached on foot.

Singer George Michael was the sole resident living in the house from 1996 until his death in 2016. His long stay made the property deeply connected to his life and career.
