Soames Chimney, Victorian industrial chimney in Wrexham, Wales
Soames Chimney is a Victorian industrial structure in Wrexham, Wales, built from red brick and standing 73.8 meters tall. Its surface features ornamental terracotta panels displaying the letter S that wrap around its cylindrical form.
The chimney was built in 1894 for the FW Soames & Co. Brewery and played a central role in the company's production. In 1932 the brewery merged with Border Breweries, but the structure remained standing as a landmark.
The chimney marks Wrexham's past as a brewing hub and shows how industry shaped the city's identity. It stands as a quiet reminder of the workers and craftsmanship that once defined this region.
The structure sits on Tuttle Street in central Wrexham and is easily accessible. Protected since 1994, visitors can admire the original architectural details from ground level.
In 2011 the chimney was surprisingly offered for sale on eBay and fetched a price of 1,420 pounds. Proceeds from this unusual sale went to a charity.
