Old Library, Carnegie library in Rhosddu, Wrexham, United Kingdom.
The Old Library is a four-story brick building with five evenly-spaced windows across its main front, each section marked by vertical stone frames. The lower level uses natural stone, the walls employ a distinctive brick pattern, and a small tower with a square section rises from the roofline.
The building opened in 1906 as part of a wave of public library development supported by private donors interested in community education. It served readers and students for more than 60 years before its use changed in the 1970s.
The building served as a gathering place where people came to access knowledge and improve their skills regardless of their background. You can still observe how the interior spaces were designed to encourage reading and study.
The building sits at a street corner in the town center and is easy to find on foot. The facade faces the street directly, making it simple to locate and observe from outside.
Above the main entrance sits a carved stone coat of arms that was placed there to mark the building's importance to the town. This detail shows how much civic pride was invested in the library when it was built.
