Парк природе Палић, Nature park in Subotica, Serbia
Palić Nature Park is a protected landscape near the Hungarian border featuring lakes, wetlands, and varied habitats. The grounds host numerous plant and animal species spread across more than 700 hectares.
The site received protection status in 1975 and became a regional park in 1982. It later gained its current official designation in 1996.
The grounds revolve around a large lake and retain several old buildings from the early 1900s. The restored water tower and music pavilion are places where visitors regularly experience concerts and cultural events.
Visitors can walk on trails, cycle, or eat at restaurants serving regional dishes. Summer months offer opportunities for water activities on the lake.
The lake underwent restoration in the 1970s, creating artificial islands from dried mud. Today these islands serve as Serbia's only nesting site for Mediterranean gulls.
