EPFL Pavilions, Art museum in Ecublens, Switzerland
EPFL Pavilions is an art museum on the EPFL campus in Ecublens, Switzerland. It occupies a long, low building with wooden facades and a folded roof, divided into three sections that include exhibition spaces and a café.
The building opened in late 2016 as part of the ArtLab project, designed by the Japanese firm Kengo Kuma & Associates. It housed digital archives of the Montreux Jazz Festival and hosted exhibitions until 2025, when it closed for infrastructure work.
The name EPFL Pavilions comes from the building's three distinct sections, each with its own focus. Visitors can see how art and science are brought together in the exhibitions, which often include interactive and digital elements.
The museum is closed indefinitely for infrastructure work, so check before planning a visit. Its traveling exhibitions may appear elsewhere, so look for updates on the program.
The roof is folded like origami, giving the building a shape that changes as you walk around it. The wooden facades and tiled roofs are meant to echo a Swiss chalet, a detail that stands out on a modern campus.
