Museo Histórico "El Dique", Naval industry museum in Puerto Real, Spain.
The museum occupies 80,000 square meters within the former Matagorda shipyard complex, displaying maritime industrial heritage from different periods.
The site originated in the 16th century when Felipe II ordered a defensive fort, later evolving into Spain's first modern shipyard in 1878.
The museum preserves 3,000 documents, 500,000 photographic negatives from 1877, and 234 audiovisual records illustrating naval construction techniques.
Visitors can access the museum by boat from Cádiz Port to explore four exhibition halls, the Carena Dock, and a Neo-Romanesque chapel.
The Carena Dock features an intricate foundation system with wooden pilings and stone blocks designed by English engineers in 1872.
