Montée de Guise

Montee de Guise is a residential complex with around 280 housing units and offices organized around a central staircase running from Rue Berbisey. The structure features curved glass windows facing the railway, designed to bring in natural light throughout the building.

The complex was built on the site of former military fortifications that once defended the city. This location marks the shift from Dijon's defensive past to contemporary urban development.

The facades draw from medieval elements of old Dijon, featuring gabled rooflines and colored tiles that echo the city's traditional character.

Access is from Rue Berbisey, with underground parking available for residents and visitors. The site is easily walkable and offers multiple entry points for exploring the structure.

Spanish architect Manuel Nunez Yanowsky designed this development with postmodern design principles. The construction unfolded over more than a decade, with the main structure completed in the early 1990s and additions finishing later in that decade.
