Cosmocité Science Center

The science center spans 2,000 square meters and includes an 80-seat planetarium, a 60-seat immersive room, and two exhibition spaces for earth and space exploration.

The center stands on the former site of Villancourt Mills, which supplied flour to bakeries in the Grenoble region from the late 19th century until the 1970s.

The name Cosmocité emerged from a participatory process involving local residents, reflecting both universal science concepts and community engagement in scientific discovery.

The facility accommodates up to 60,000 visitors annually, including 20,000 students, with programming designed for various age groups from 3 years old to adults.

The building integrates environmental features such as a green roof, solar panels, and urban heating system that uses 80 percent renewable energy sources.
