Frogmore Cottage, Grade II listed building in Windsor, England
Frogmore Cottage is a Grade II listed residential building from 1801 on the Frogmore Estate in Windsor. The structure includes several bedrooms, a nursery, and bathrooms spread across around 5000 square feet (465 square meters).
Queen Charlotte commissioned the building at the start of the 19th century as a retreat for herself and her unmarried daughters. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved into the residence in 2019 after extensive renovation work.
As a royal residence on the Frogmore Estate, the cottage remains a lived-in private space for members of the royal family. Public access is not permitted, distinguishing it from many other historic sites in the area.
The building sits near Windsor Castle within Windsor Home Park but is not open to the public. Visits are not possible as the residence serves as private living space for the royal family.
The property takes its name from the frogs that lived in surrounding ponds and marshes, once so numerous that Queen Victoria complained about them during a visit. Some of the interior furnishings came from the royal yacht Britannia, giving the rooms a maritime touch.
