Haldane Building, Military drill hall in Garnethill, Glasgow, United Kingdom
The Haldane Building on Hill Street features red sandstone walls, large training spaces, and Victorian architectural elements from its 1897 construction period.
The structure served as headquarters for the 1st Volunteer Battalion of the Highland Light Infantry, which mobilized troops for the Gallipoli campaign in 1914.
The building represents the military traditions of Glasgow, having trained generations of Scottish soldiers before becoming part of Glasgow School of Art.
Located at 24 Hill Street, the former military facility maintains its original external features while adapting to modern educational requirements.
The building bears the name of James Haldane, a Glasgow engraver, and housed the 5th/6th Battalion until their 1967 merger with the Glasgow Highlanders.
