Chapel Porth Beach, Coastal beach in Cornwall, United Kingdom
Chapel Porth Beach lies in a narrow valley between high cliffs and reveals broad sandy areas at low tide that connect St Agnes Head with Porthtowan. The beach stretches over several hundred meters and is framed by steep cliff walls that shape the valley.
The beach connects to Cornwall's mining past through the Wheal Coates engine house visible on the cliffs above. This structure recalls the centuries when tin extraction shaped the entire region.
The National Trust manages this Cornwall beach, maintaining its natural state while providing access to both local residents and visitors throughout the seasons.
RNLI lifeguards monitor the beach from May through September, with seasonal dog restrictions applying between July and August from 10 am to 6 pm. The beach can become slippery in rough conditions, so care should be taken when entering the water.
The beach transforms dramatically with the tide, shifting from a stony space at high water to an expansive sandy expanse at low tide. These extreme changes create two distinctly different beaches in the same location.
