Hollywood Cinema, Historic movie theater in Great Yarmouth, United Kingdom
Hollywood Cinema is a four-screen cinema housed in a Victorian building in Great Yarmouth. The venue shows current films and special screenings from morning hours until late evening daily.
The building started as an aquarium in 1875, was transformed into a theater in 1883, and began showing films in 1914. It took the name Royal Aquarium Cinema in 1920 and served the community for many decades.
The cinema hosts regular programs designed for different audiences, including parent-baby sessions, senior screenings, and subtitled performances for hearing-impaired visitors. This approach brings various community members together in one space.
The venue is open daily for visitors, with online ticket reservations available so you can book your seat in advance. Parking is available in the surrounding area, and refreshments are sold on site.
After facing closure in 2019, Arc Cinema group poured millions into extensive renovations to save the venue. The upgrades included installing recliner seats and advanced sound systems that brought new life to this entertainment spot.
