Inverness Town House, Municipal heritage building in High Street, Inverness, Scotland.
Inverness Town House is a civic administrative building in Inverness city center featuring a symmetrical seven-bay facade with Gothic design elements. The structure displays small towers and decorative stone ornaments that accent the exterior.
The current structure was completed in 1882 and replaced an earlier town hall from 1708. It received partial funding through a 5,000 pound bequest from Duncan Grant.
The building holds stained glass windows created in 1898 to mark Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. These artworks remain visible features that shape how visitors experience the interior space.
The building houses Highland Council offices and sits in Inverness city center's main commercial area. Keep in mind it functions as an active administrative center, so public access and opening hours may be limited.
In 1921 the building hosted the first British Cabinet meeting held outside London, which led to the creation of the Inverness Formula. This rare political event made the location significant in the history of governance.
