Church Cemetery, Nottingham, Victorian cemetery in Nottingham, England
The cemetery extends over 13 acres at the junction of Forest Road and Mansfield Road, featuring sandstone rocks and underground caves throughout the grounds.
Established in 1856 and designed by Edwin Patchitt, the cemetery required relocating 20,000 tons of earth and planting numerous trees including Cedars of Lebanon.
The cemetery contains 101 Commonwealth war graves and a Grade II listed war memorial designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield, added to the grounds in 1920.
Seasonal opening hours vary from 8:00 to 16:00 in winter months to 8:00 to 18:00 during summer, with different schedules for Sundays and holidays.
The cemetery incorporates former sand mine tunnels and caverns, which were previously used for extracting fine sand employed as a floor cleaning material.
