County Hall, Administrative building in Glenfields, United Kingdom
County Hall is a five-story building on Leicester Road with horizontal bands of windows and concrete panels across its facade. The structure was designed to serve as the administrative center with updated facilities for the council's operations.
Construction started in 1965 on open land and finished in 1967. An extension was added in 1970 to house computing equipment.
The council chamber features panels made from Japanese teak and Bombay rosewood, creating an ornate interior space. These rare materials reflect the care taken in designing where important decisions are made.
The building sits on Leicester Road and is easily accessible from the street. You can view the exterior and walk around the grounds to appreciate the architecture and grounds.
A memorial called Stand Easy features four bronze statues by artist Kenny Hunter located on the grounds. The work honors local residents who have died since World War II.
