Town Hall, Hamilton Road, Motherwell, Category C listed building on Hamilton Road, Motherwell, Scotland
The town hall presents a four-bay asymmetrical frontage facing Hamilton Road, featuring a clock tower, pilasters, and decorative tympanum elements.
The structure, completed in 1887 by architect John Bennie Wilson, served as headquarters for the Burgh of Motherwell and Wishaw Council until December 1970.
The principal room contained a double-height public hall with 1,200 seats, hosting performances including a notable concert by T. Rex in May 1970.
Following its municipal function, the building transformed into a leisure center, then operated as a snooker club and later a laser tag facility.
North Lanarkshire Council plans to preserve only the front facade of the building while demolishing the remaining structure due to commercial vacancy issues.
