Marsham Court

Marsham Court is an eight-story apartment building designed in Art Deco style along Marsham Street. The facade displays geometric shapes and decorative details typical of the 1930s, creating a distinctive architectural presence on the street.

The building was constructed in 1937 on the site of a former brewery, transforming the area from industrial to residential use. It later became home to prominent figures, including a senior intelligence official during the early 1970s.

The building served as an exclusive residential community for affluent residents, with dining and social spaces that attracted politicians and civil servants. These facilities reflected the high-end lifestyle that the place offered to those living there.

The building is visible from the street and easily accessible, situated along a main thoroughfare in Westminster. Visitors can appreciate the architecture from the sidewalk and explore the surrounding area, which offers numerous shops and dining options nearby.

The building featured butler cupboards near apartment entrances where residents could leave clothing for overnight cleaning service. During the Second World War, residents had to make their own beds due to staff shortages, showing how wartime conditions altered the service.
