Bellmount Tower, Georgian tower in Belton and Manthorpe, England.
Bellmount Tower is an octagonal observation tower within Belton Park, built from stone and featuring decorative elements in Georgian style. It has multiple levels with window openings that allow visitors to climb and survey the surrounding countryside.
The tower was commissioned by John Brownlow in the 18th century and remodeled around 1780 to modernize its appearance. A fire in 1841 caused severe damage that was later repaired.
The Grade II* listed designation marks this tower as a structure of exceptional architectural interest, representing Georgian design principles within English heritage.
The tower is reached via a specific route from the car park, as direct access through the park is limited by a deer fence at the property boundary. It is best to follow the marked paths and check conditions beforehand.
The structure provides shelter for brown long-eared bats and pipistrelle bats that use the interior spaces as roosts. This makes the site an important location for protecting these native species in the region.
