Shantinatha temple, Ramtek, Jain temple in Ramtek, India

Shantinatha temple in Ramtek is a Jain shrine built from yellow sandstone and centered on a 4-meter (13 ft) tall statue of the primary deity. The walls display finely carved patterns that are typical of North Indian temple design.

The temple complex began construction in the 11th century and was later expanded during the 18th-century reign of Raghoji I Bhonsle. This period of growth resulted in the addition of several new shrines that enlarged the entire site.

The temple serves as a vital pilgrimage destination where followers gather to worship and observe sacred festivals throughout the year. The spaces are adorned with religious imagery and symbols that reflect the daily faith practices of the community.

Visitors can stay at the temple's dharamshala, which provides modern rooms and a restaurant serving vegetarian meals. The site is easy to navigate and travelers receive helpful support from community members.

The complex houses fifteen additional shrines, including distinctive structures like Pratibhasthali, Sant Bhavan, and an ancient Manastambha tower. These scattered buildings give the grounds their layered character and encourage visitors to explore the entire site.
