The Naval Undersea Museum Foundation initiated the establishment of this institution in 1980, leading to its official opening in 1995 near the Naval Undersea Warfare Center.
This museum preserves maritime heritage through its collection of 6,500 volumes, World War II submarine patrol reports, and interviews from Naval Institute oral histories.
The museum welcomes visitors daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, except on Tuesdays between October and April, with free admission and guided tours.
The facility displays the 55-ton sail of USS Sturgeon submarine and the Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle featured in The Hunt for Red October film.
