The Belvédère des Caillettes is a scenic viewpoint in the heart of the Ingrannes forest, in the commune of Nibelle in France. It takes the form of a wooden observation tower rising above the treetops, offering a 360-degree panorama over the Orléans forest.
The Orléans forest was for a long time a hunting ground for local lords before it was opened to the public. The wooden tower was built later to give visitors an elevated view over this large stretch of forest.
The Belvédère des Caillettes sits at the highest point of the Orléans forest and offers a full view over the canopy. At the top, an orientation table identifies the tree species, plants, and animals found in the surrounding forest.
Entry is free and open year-round, with a parking area located close to the site. During summer, fire risks may lead to temporary closures of forest roads, so it is worth checking access conditions before making the trip.
On a clear day, it is said you can spot the cathedral of Orléans on the horizon from the top of the tower. The forest visible from the platform is the largest state-owned forest in France.
