Petit Château de Sceaux, Classical French castle in Sceaux, France.

The Petit Château de Sceaux is a classical French castle featuring stone facades, symmetrical windows, and a monumental portal that opens to a cobblestone courtyard. The structure spans multiple floors and houses collections of paintings, drawings, prints, and precious furniture throughout its rooms.

A notary named Nicolas Boindin initiated construction in 1661, and Jean-Baptiste Colbert later integrated it into his estate in 1682. This early phase established the building's core architectural character.

The château displays furniture and artworks that reflect French taste from the 17th century through the mid-19th century. Visitors can see objects representing different artistic styles across these periods.

The castle opens Tuesday through Saturday for groups with advance reservations and on weekends for individual visitors from March through October. It is advisable to plan ahead since opening times vary by season.

The first floor houses a rare painting by Nicolas Poussin and about fifty artworks the department acquired since 2019. These recent additions expand the collection with less-known artistic perspectives.
