Parc des Vouillants, Recreation area in Fontaine, France.
Parc des Vouillants is a sports facility in Fontaine with a large concrete climbing wall built into the landscape. The wall features multiple routes with different difficulty levels arranged across its surface for climbers of all abilities.
The climbing wall was built between 1995 and 2004 as part of Fontaine's outdoor recreation development. It was created to provide professional training opportunities for the growing climbing community in the region.
The climbing wall here is named after Pierre Béghin, a local mountaineer, and serves as a meeting place where climbers of different levels train and practice together throughout the year.
The site has parking available and is accessible by the local tram network. Check your gear before climbing, especially on damp days, as the wall surface can become slippery after rain or moisture.
The wall was deliberately positioned on a natural slope to work with the existing terrain rather than against it. This integration makes the surrounding landscape part of what makes climbing here different from artificial indoor walls.
