This via ferrata extends approximately 2,625 feet (800 meters) with a total elevation gain of 853 feet (260 meters) through white limestone rock, featuring natural holds, metal rungs, and several suspended bridges offering views of the Chartreuse massif.
The via ferrata opened in 2004 under the initiative of the community of communes of Entremont en Chartreuse, now known as Coeur de Chartreuse, and has undergone periodic maintenance including temporary passerelle removal in 2021 for safety inspections.
This climbing route attracts families and experienced climbers seeking mountain sports in the French Alps, contributing to regional outdoor recreation traditions and showcasing the natural heritage of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park.
The route requires a 45-minute approach hike from the village parking lot near the local school, and climbers must bring helmets, harnesses, safety lanyards with shock absorbers, and appropriate footwear for the climb.
The second section features exposed vertical passages and overhangs without escape routes, including a 56-foot (17-meter) suspended walkway called Pas Loquace and the Pont des Balmes bridge above the southern rock face.
