Sanctuaire Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette de Corps, Catholic pilgrimage sanctuary at 1800 meters elevation in Corps, France
The sanctuary includes a basilica, a chapel of encounter, bronze statues depicting Marian apparition scenes, and a cemetery with a Virgin statue.
Two young shepherds, Maximin Giraud and Melanie Calvat, reported seeing the Virgin Mary at this location on September 19, 1846.
The sanctuary receives 300,000 annual pilgrims who gather for masses, religious celebrations, and access to the spring water considered miraculous.
Visitors can reach the sanctuary by car or bus via a road completed in 1968, with daily opening hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The Virgin Mary's messages during the apparition were delivered in both French and local patois to ensure understanding by the shepherd children.
