Plava Laguna, Resort beach in Poreč, Croatia
Plava Laguna is a beach on the Adriatic coast near Poreč, Croatia, located along the Brulo peninsula and made up of pebbles and flat stone-paved sections. The shore sits inside a small bay that keeps the water relatively calm, with several access points leading directly into the sea.
The area around Plava Laguna was developed in the 1960s as part of organized coastal tourism in Yugoslavia. It was among the first stretches of the Istrian coast to be built up for large-scale tourism.
The beach sits next to a large resort complex from the Yugoslav era that is still in use today, giving the area a laid-back holiday feel. Many visitors spend the whole day here, as restaurants and bars are within a short walk along the shore.
The beach is easy to reach from Poreč on foot or by bike along the coastal path. It tends to get busy during summer, so arriving early in the morning gives you more room on the shore.
The name Plava Laguna simply means "Blue Lagoon" in Croatian, which was originally more of a marketing term than a geographic one. Today it refers to the whole tourism area around the bay, not just the beach itself.
