Jardí del Bisbe, Episcopal garden next to Palma Cathedral, Spain

Jardí del Bisbe is a garden next to Palma Cathedral featuring geometrically pruned hedges, an orchard, and a pond with water lilies surrounded by Mediterranean plants and citrus trees. The space is enclosed by walls and feels like a quiet, self-contained retreat within the city.

The garden stands behind the Episcopal Palace with a mannerist-style entrance gate connected to the architectural heritage of medieval Palma. These grounds developed during a period when such episcopal residences were important centers of authority in the city.

The space maintains the traditional layout of noble house gardens in Palma, with separate sections for ornamental plants, fruit trees, and vegetables. This division shows how wealthy families once designed their gardens as working spaces that combined beauty with everyday use.

The grounds are open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM in winter, with extended hours in summer and Saturday access from 10 AM to 3 PM. Plan about an hour for a relaxed walk through the garden's different sections.

From the garden grounds, visitors can observe both the cathedral roof architecture and the rear façade of the Episcopal Palace simultaneously. This vantage point offers a rare perspective on two major historical buildings of the city.
