Description

The granite structure spans a canal with traditional Chinese architectural elements connecting different sections of the water town and providing an elevated passage over the canal system.

History

Construction occurred during the Ming and Qing dynasties when Wuzhen flourished as a trading hub. The crossing facilitated the movement of goods and people across waterways between different market districts of the town.

The bridge serves as a gathering point during local festivals, when residents perform Wu Opera and hold traditional ceremonies that take place throughout the year.
