Dingsheng Bridge, Stone bridge in Wuzhen, China.

The granite structure spans a canal with traditional Chinese architectural elements connecting different sections of the water town and providing an elevated passage over the canal system.

Construction occurred during the Ming and Qing dynasties when Wuzhen flourished as a trading hub. The crossing facilitated the movement of goods and people across waterways between different market districts of the town.

The bridge serves as a gathering point during local festivals, when residents perform Wu Opera and hold traditional ceremonies that take place throughout the year.

Visitors reach the crossing through guided tours that include stops at nearby museums, traditional craft shops and restaurants serving regional specialties. Early morning or late afternoon sees less foot traffic than midday hours.

The stone structure displays specific engineering techniques from ancient Chinese bridge construction with detailed carvings telling stories about merchant activities along the waterways. Balustrade panels carry inscriptions documenting trade routes.
