Cheongun Literature Library, Literature library in Cheongunhyoja-dong, South Korea.
The Cheongun Literature Library is a hanok-style building constructed with traditional Korean architecture, positioned on a slope at the base of Inwangsan Mountain. The structure spans two levels, each serving different reading needs and user groups.
Built by the Jongno-gu Office, this became the first hanok-style literary facility in the district, marking a shift toward preserving traditional architecture. The creation helped establish the neighborhood as a center for literary and cultural spaces.
The building sits in a neighborhood named after a scholar and poet, creating a space devoted to reading and reflection on this historic slope. Visitors find themselves surrounded by the character of the area, where the architecture echoes the region's literary connections.
The building sits along Jahamun-ro 36-gil in Jongno-gu and is accessible to foot traffic in the area. Visitors should expect steep or uneven ground, as the site occupies a sloped location on the mountainside.
A walking trail of roughly three kilometers connects this library to two other literary sites in the area, following scenes inspired by classical landscape paintings. The route guides visitors past places tied to notable Korean writers and historical artists.
