Αφες Μαρίνη
Afes Marini is a restaurant in Athens serving traditional Greek food. The space offers about 40 different cooked dishes each day, from classic stews to grilled meat and fish, all prepared with fresh seasonal ingredients.
The building dates from 1888 and was first a coffeehouse called Skotida Garden. In the 1960s it became a grill restaurant run by the Martini brothers, then in 1977 was transformed into a restaurant bearing the family name.
The restaurant carries the name of a family that has cooked and lived here for decades. The space was once a coffeehouse called Skotida Garden and now serves as a meeting place where neighbors and visitors share authentic Greek meals and conversation.
The restaurant sits next to the Church of Saint Luke in the Patisia neighborhood, a lively inner-city area. The place has a garden with olive and lemon trees and opens daily from midday until late evening.
The owner personally selects the best meat and fish each morning to prepare the daily dishes. This daily purchasing practice ensures only high-quality fresh ingredients reach the kitchen.
