Club Hotel Tiberias
Club Hotel Tiberias is a suites hotel on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, in the northern Israeli city of Tiberias. Most rooms come with a private balcony facing either the lake or the surrounding hills.
Tiberias was founded in the 1st century CE by Herod Antipas and became an important center of Jewish learning in late antiquity. The city passed through Byzantine, Arab, Crusader, and Ottoman hands before becoming part of modern Israel.
Tiberias is one of the four holy cities in Judaism, and that religious identity shapes the feel of the streets around the hotel. On Friday afternoons, the city slows down noticeably as Shabbat begins, giving the area a different, quieter rhythm.
The hotel sits directly on the lakefront, so the water is within walking distance. The center of Tiberias, with its restaurants and shops, is also reachable on foot in a short walk.
The Sea of Galilee sits roughly 700 feet (210 meters) below sea level, making it one of the lowest freshwater lakes on Earth. The noticeably humid air by the shore is something many visitors feel the moment they step onto their balcony.
