Bethmaus

Bethmaus is an archaeological site on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee with remains of ancient buildings and structures from different periods. The excavated foundations and walls come from multiple settlement layers that show people lived here for centuries.

The site was inhabited across multiple historical periods, as shown by layers of ruins stacked on top of each other. Ancient people used this lakeside location over a long span of time for settlement and daily life.

The remains show how people organized their daily activities and built communities in this part of the Galilee region long ago. Visitors can see evidence of their crafts and the ways they adapted to living near the water.

The site is open to visit, though you should wear sturdy shoes and expect uneven ground with exposed structures scattered around. The location has little shade, so sun protection like a hat is a good idea, especially on hot days.

The site clearly shows how closely tied the ancient inhabitants were to the nearby lake for their survival. Findings suggest that fishing and boat-building were important activities alongside farming in their daily routine.
