Poria – Neve Oved, Community settlement in Emek HaYarden Regional Council, Israel
Poria – Neve Oved is a community settlement in the Emek HaYarden Regional Council, in northern Israel, located southeast of the Sea of Galilee. It is made up of residential buildings set on a hillside, with farmland and the Jordan Valley spreading out below.
The settlement was founded in 1949 by immigrants from North Africa who arrived in the years right after Israel was established. It was part of a wider effort to build new residential communities across the country during that period.
The name Neve Oved means "Oasis of Workers" in Hebrew, a reference to the founders who worked in nearby factories and kibbutzim. Today the settlement keeps a modest, working residential character that reflects those roots.
The settlement is reached from nearby Tiberias via Route 90, which runs along the Jordan Valley. Local services and municipal facilities are managed through the regional council and are found in the center of the community.
Poria – Neve Oved shares the Poria hillside with other nearby localities that carry the same name, which often causes confusion among visitors trying to navigate the area. The different Poria communities each have their own history and are administratively separate.
