Poria – Kfar Avoda, Community settlement in Emek HaYarden, Israel.
Poria - Kfar Avoda is a residential settlement located in the Emek HaYarden region, positioned on elevated terrain east of the Sea of Galilee. The community spreads across this higher ground with views toward the valleys and water below.
The settlement was founded in 1949 when 90 families from Yemen arrived and began establishing the community with support from the Jewish Agency. It grew as one of the early regional settlements created during Israel's early years of independence.
The settlement's name combines Poria with Kfar Avoda, meaning Labor Village in Hebrew, reflecting the agricultural roots that shaped this community. Residents continue to maintain ties to farming practices that defined the place from its beginnings.
The settlement is administered by the Emek HaYarden Regional Council and offers visitors insight into a small, close-knit community. The elevated location provides good access, and the place sits conveniently between Tiberias and other sites in the region.
The settlement was among the first kibbutz foundations created immediately after Israel's independence, embodying an important chapter in early immigration and settlement. Its creation shows how Yemenite families contributed to building the nation during those formative years.
