The building previously housed a pizzeria called Romantica, which was already a meeting point for people in Todtnauberg. When Lo Chalet opened, Salvatore Meschis and Giovanna Ferrante from Palermo took over and brought their own cooking tradition to the Black Forest.
Lo Chalet occupies the space of a former pizzeria that locals still remember, giving the building a second life as a gathering spot. The owners, originally from Palermo, bring recipes and habits from southern Italy into a setting that feels natural for the village.
The restaurant is well placed for a stop after hiking or skiing in the area, as Todtnauberg draws visitors in both winter and summer. Reserving a table ahead of time is a good idea during busy seasons, since the place is small and fills up quickly.
The pizza here is baked following the tradition of Palermo in a stone oven, giving it a crust that is noticeably different from what most German pizzerias offer.
