La Sirena is a Mexican restaurant on Piękna Street in Warsaw, outfitted with ceramic breeze blocks, rust surfaces, and a custom-made expanded metal ceiling with spotlights. The compact space blends handcrafted details with industrial elements throughout.
The restaurant building bears traces of its past, as original flooring was discovered beneath multiple layers of linoleum during renovation work. Bricks from demolished pre-war partition walls were intentionally integrated into the current design scheme.
The interior design merges Mexican craft traditions with local references, particularly through Day of the Dead artwork and the Warsaw mermaid symbol. These two cultural threads create a unique atmosphere throughout the space.
The venue is small and intimate, so allow time to take in the design details around you. Mexican dishes are prepared and served at a good pace, making it suitable for lunch or dinner visits.
The space came together through creative reuse of materials from flea markets and old sheds, giving it an unplanned, collected quality. Corrugated metal walls sit alongside salvaged fireplace tiles, showing real skill in making something new from old objects.
