Design Museum of Barcelona

The Design Museum of Barcelona is an art museum in Sant Martí that houses over 70,000 objects spanning different periods. The building combines underground sections with modern structure above ground and displays works ranging from medieval times to contemporary design.

The museum was created through the merger of several important institutions, including the Museum of Decorative Arts and the Textile Museum. This fusion brought together collections that opened at the current location in 2014.

The museum shows how design and craftsmanship have changed over centuries, from furniture to textiles and decorative objects. Visitors can see how historical techniques and forms continue to influence the way things are made today.

The museum is located near Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes and is open Tuesday through Sunday, allowing visitors to plan their time flexibly. Both in-person and online guided tours are offered to support different visiting preferences.

The museum operates a documentation center holding over 22,000 materials about the history of object arts and design. This collection of books, magazines, and private archives is available to the public for research purposes.
