Marriott Rivercenter
Marriott Rivercenter is a high-rise hotel tower located directly on the River Walk in downtown San Antonio. The building has 38 floors, and many rooms face the river or the surrounding downtown area.
The hotel opened in 1988 as part of a broader development around the Rivercenter mall and lagoon. Its construction changed the shape of the downtown skyline in a lasting way.
The hotel takes its name from its location along the Rivercenter lagoon, a section of San Antonio's famous River Walk. The area reflects the city's role as a gathering place for visitors and locals seeking food, shopping, and social activities.
The hotel sits in the center of downtown San Antonio, within walking distance of the River Walk and the Alamo. For trips further into the city, public transport and taxis are easy to find nearby.
The twin peaks at the top of the tower were inspired by the double bell towers found on old mission churches in the region, such as Mission Concepcion. This gives the building a visual connection to the colonial architecture of the city that you would not normally expect from a modern hotel tower.
