Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant, Ice cream parlor and restaurant in Dania Beach, United States.
Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant is an ice cream parlor and full-service restaurant in Dania Beach, south of Fort Lauderdale, serving classic American food alongside sundaes, milkshakes, and generous ice cream portions. The place has separate menus for food and ice cream, and all frozen desserts and toppings are made on site every day.
Monroe Udell opened the parlor in 1956 and from the start ran it with an open hiring policy that went against the racial segregation common in Florida at the time. That approach made the place a rare and open spot in a region where discrimination was the norm.
The walls inside are covered with old American objects, photographs, and vintage signs collected over decades, giving the dining room a feel that goes far beyond a typical ice cream stop. Sitting there, you get the sense of being inside a small, informal museum of everyday American life.
The restaurant is on a busy road in Dania Beach with a large parking area right in front, making it straightforward to reach by car. Curbside pickup and delivery through several services are also available for those who prefer not to dine in.
The portions here are known to be genuinely large, and some of the sundaes arrive at the table so tall that they barely fit under a standard overhead light fixture. First-time visitors are often caught off guard by just how much arrives on a single order.
