The building opened in 1917 as a restaurant serving Kanto cuisine from the Edo region. Over decades it served different purposes, including as a wartime hospital and later as a publishing center before becoming its current form.
The venue combines Japanese cuisine with literary exhibitions and readings that celebrate Japanese authors and their works. Walking through the space, you notice books and artworks displayed alongside dining areas, creating a setting where food and literature coexist naturally.
The restaurant is located on Tongan Street in Taipei's Zhongzheng District and operates daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM except Mondays. Plan to spend a good amount of time exploring, as the space invites visitors to move between dining and viewing areas at a leisurely pace.
