Peace Palace, Residential skyscraper in Daan, Taiwan.
The Peace Palace is a residential skyscraper in the Da'an District of Taipei, Taiwan, standing 144 meters tall with 38 floors above ground. Its facade is clad in Brazilian gold granite, and the tower holds 106 apartment units spread across its floors, with 7 levels below ground.
The building was completed in 2014, during a period when central Taipei saw many new residential towers go up. It was built to meet strict earthquake engineering standards, reflecting the reality of living in one of the most seismically active parts of the world.
Architect C.T. Chen gave the building a crown-shaped roof meant to represent a king seated on a throne. This roofline sets it apart from the other towers around it and makes it easy to spot from a distance.
The tower sits near National Taiwan Normal University in Da'an, a central district well served by the metro and local buses. The surrounding streets are easy to walk and have plenty of shops, cafes, and green spaces nearby.
The exterior granite was imported from Brazil, which is unusual for a building in Taiwan where local or Chinese stone is far more common. This choice gives the facade a warm golden tone that looks different from the glass towers typical of central Taipei.
