Taipei Grand Mosque, Islamic prayer center in Daan District, Taiwan
The Taipei Grand Mosque features white walls, twin minarets reaching 20 meters high, and a central dome built in Ottoman architectural style.
The mosque opened its doors in 1960 following a diplomatic initiative to welcome Saudi Arabian King Saud during his anticipated visit to Taiwan.
The mosque holds daily prayers, Ramadan celebrations, and community gatherings, serving as a central hub for Taiwan's Muslim population and international visitors.
The mosque maintains a marketplace every Friday from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM where vendors sell halal food products and traditional Islamic goods.
The central prayer hall, covered with Persian wool carpets, accommodates 600 worshippers under its 15-meter-high unsupported dome using Turkish construction techniques.
