The construction of this sports facility began in July 1995, and the gymnasium officially started operating in 2001 as part of National Taiwan University's campus expansion.
The gymnasium functions as a central gathering point for students and local residents, hosting numerous sporting competitions, academic events, and community activities throughout the year.
The facility maintains extended operating hours from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekdays, with reduced hours during weekends and scheduled closures on the fourth Monday of each month.
In 2014, the gymnasium expanded beyond traditional sports by serving as a venue for the League of Legends World Championship, establishing its presence in electronic sports competitions.
