Huang Family Qianrang Estate, Manor house in Daan District, Taipei, Taiwan.
Huang Family Qianrang Estate is a manor house in Taipei's Daan District built in traditional southern Fujian style with three main sections: a central structure flanked by two wings. The redbrick construction displays classical Chinese proportions with open courtyards and patterned facades that reveal the craftsmanship of its original builders.
The estate was founded by the Huang family, whose ancestors emigrated from Fujian Province in the mid-1700s to establish themselves in Taiwan. This migration marked the beginning of generations of family residence and economic activity in the region.
The Huang family preserved their Fujian roots through architectural choices and living patterns visible in the courtyards and decorative details throughout the buildings. The estate shows how migrants recreated the essence of home through construction and spatial design.
The estate is located on the Longmen Junior High School campus today and functions as a teaching and learning space for students. To visit, you will need to coordinate with the school, as the building remains an active part of the school grounds.
A historical water well from the original construction period remains standing in the rear section, preserved for visitors to see. This well demonstrates how the family managed their water supply during the early years of settlement.
