Radisson Blu Seaside
Radisson Blu Seaside is a nine-story hotel with over 330 rooms set along Helsinki's harbor in the Vallila neighborhood. The building features many rooms with large windows overlooking the water and city, along with saunas, a restaurant, bar, fitness center, and free Wi-Fi available throughout.
The hotel opened in 1993 and underwent major renovation in 2010, built on the site of a former cheese factory. Original elements like some of the factory's columns were preserved in the building's design, connecting the space to its industrial past.
The hotel sits in a neighborhood shaped by Helsinki's long connection to the sea and maritime activity. Walking nearby in the morning gives a sense of how locals experience the waterfront, with seasonal changes and harbor life shaping the rhythm of the area.
The hotel is easily accessible by public transport, with tram stops nearby and bus connections to the airport, plus about a 20-minute walk to the city center. The ferry terminal to Estonia sits adjacent to the property, and the Hietalahti Market with local goods is also within walking distance.
The hotel features two saunas, with the top-floor one offering sunrise views over the harbor during private events, a Finnish tradition many guests seek out. In winter, the harbor water freezes, transforming the view into a snow-covered landscape with ice on the waves, creating a quiet and unusual experience.
