Bujairi Terrace, Fine dining restaurant complex in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia
Bujairi Terrace is a dining complex in Diriyah, just west of Riyadh, with more than twenty restaurants serving Saudi and international food. The buildings follow a Najdi style, with mud-brick facades and open courtyards, and sit right on the edge of the historic At-Turaif district.
The complex was built as part of a larger development project in Diriyah aimed at reviving the area around the original Al Saud capital. Its architecture draws directly from the traditional Najdi style found in the neighboring At-Turaif district, which dates back to the 15th century.
The terrace sits right next to the At-Turaif district, so visitors can look at traditional Najdi mud-brick walls while dining. Sharing food at large tables is a long-standing custom here, and it is common to see families gathered together over a meal.
The complex is easy to walk through, and both regular parking and valet service are available on site. Evening is a good time to visit, as the lit facades and the view toward At-Turaif are at their best after dark.
One of the restaurants here is Café de L'Esplanade, which is only the second location of this Parisian cafe to open outside France. Finding a well-known French cafe sitting inside a historic Arabian site is not something most visitors expect.
