Pickle
Pickle is a restaurant in Dublin City on Lower Camden Street that serves North Indian dishes made with Irish ingredients. The space holds around 55 seats, featuring patterned tile floors and dark green walls inspired by old Irani cafes, while the kitchen combines traditional recipes with thoughtful presentation.
The restaurant was founded by Sunil Ghai, a chef with extensive experience in Indian cuisine and multiple awards in Ireland. Ghai grew up in Gwalior, India and later trained at top hotels in India and abroad before creating his current restaurant.
The name Pickle reflects the chutneys and pickled ingredients central to North Indian cooking. The interior draws inspiration from old Irani cafes of Mumbai, with patterned tile floors and dark green walls that create a familiar setting where traditional Indian food feels like a lived experience.
The restaurant is easy to reach, located near the LUAS tram stop and close to the Bleeding Horse pub. It offers free Wi-Fi for guests, but has no wheelchair access, private rooms, or takeaway service.
Instead of typical starters like poppadoms, the restaurant offers breads such as toasted pao with goat curry and deep-fried bread balls with chickpeas and mango pickle. This creative approach to Indian classics shows the kitchen's inventive way of reimagining familiar dishes.
